Oral administration of GTP prevents UVB-induced damage to the morphology of the skin. Mice were irradiated with UVB (90 mJ per cm2) on alternate days for 2 mo. GTP was given in drinking water (0.2%, wt/vol) 10 d before the start of UVB exposure and during the entire UVB exposure protocol. Animals were sacrificed 24 h after the last UVB exposure, skin biopsies were harvested, preserved in 10% buffered formalin and processed for H & E staining (bar, 25 mum). A representative section is shown from each treatment group. n=6.
