We are very honored and pleased to dedicate this special issue to Professor Julian E. Davies, a longtime board member of The Journal of Antibiotics, and his outstanding achievements in antibiotics research. We would like to thank all his friends and colleagues who contributed to this issue.
The issue was organized with the invaluable support of the coordinator, Dr. Morimasa Yagisawa, and Dr. Kunimoto Hotta, who have a longstanding and close friendship with Professor Davies, along with editor Dr. Minoru Yoshida, who organized the reviewing process. We are grateful for their great devotion in planning and coordinating this issue.
