Correlation between plant and fungal richness for lineages with different trophic strategies. We regressed plot-level fungal richness against plant richness for three of the most diverse lineages identified in this study and that are characterized by different trophic strategies: the Hypocreales (plant-associated biotrophs, S=204, Rank=1), Saccharomycetales (Saprotrophs, S=121, Rank=3), and Glomerales (Mycorrhizal, S=94, Rank=5). Our results show that there is a strong correlation between plant and fungal richness for the lineages with strong plant associations (P<0.05, black lines) but not saprotrophic lineages (grey line, P>0.05).
