After publication of this article, the authors noticed an error in ‘Cacao polyphenol administration’ in the Methods section. ‘The CPE group (n=12) received CPE in distilled water (1.2 mg kg−1 per day)’ was incorrect. The correct concentration of CPE was 1.2 g kg−1 per day. This correction does not affect the results or the conclusions of this manuscript.
