Signalling scissors: new perspectives on proteases
The traditional opinion of proteases being destructive aggressors that break down proteins for the purposes of elimination is evolving. Proteases can, in fact, act as exquisite control switches for many pivotal cellular processes, such as embryonic development, immune response and wound healing. The Symposium brought together an international panel of experts to discuss the current thinking on proteases, from their complexity and regulation to therapeutic approaches that target this family of proteins.
