In the 'click chemistry' strategy, reactive chemical
building blocks are designed to 'click' together selectively
and covalently. The different reactive building blocks
that are used are chemically complementary to each
other, yet are mutually independent in all other functionalities.
Each component can anchor itself to one of the binding
positions in an enzyme's active site and, as they
are in close proximity, they can snap together in
a fast reaction to form a single molecule.
