The number of alleles identical by state (IBS) out of 60 microsatellite markers, the mean values of two-gene (
) and four-gene (
) coefficients of identity by descent (IBD) and of coefficients of relatedness (r) of all putative pairs of cultivars were compared to the values of established relationships (PO=parent–offspring, FS=full-siblings, 2°=second-degree relatives, 3°=third-degree relatives). These relationship categories were then assessed for each pair by calculating the likelihood ratios (LRs) between the proposed relationship and the next competing category. This made possible the assignment of the most likely relationship category.
