An error was made in the copy-editing process for this News and Commentary in Heredity, which was first published online on 5th December 2007 and appears in this issue.
In the second paragraph, the word 'genes' was incorrectly substituted for 'genus'. The correct beginning of that paragraph should actually read as follows:
Two publications that recently appeared in Nature report the sequencing, assembly and first analyses of these 12 genomes. The authors entered uncharted territories—the genomes of multiple species of the same genus are reported, which adds the new dimension of a comparative analysis in a phylogenetic framework.
The publishers are happy to correct this mistake.
