EMBO reports 8, 11, 976 (2007)

Clarification

In a response to a comment by Nicky Gordon and Gill Langley (EMBO reports 8: 794), Simon Festing and Robin Wilkinson wrote: "[...] Gill Langley is a well-known anti-vivisectionist who uses the debate about alternative methods to undermine the use of all animals in research wherever possible." It has been brought to our attention that this comment portrayed Dr Langley in an unfair light. EMBO reports would like to clarify that Dr Gill Langley is a professional scientist with a proven track record in research into non-animal alternative techniques and related animal rights issues. We would also like to point out that Dr Festing and Dr Wilkinson agree with the Dr Hadwen Trust that the development and application of more non-animal replacement techniques is important (EMBO reports 8: 796–797).
