Cover. Seedling of a maple tree in the spring. Maple fruits are winged, two-seeded samaras. They spin like helicopters as they fall from the tree, providing a longer time for dispersal by the wind. The image was captured by Thierry Moreau, Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Tours, France, with a Nikon F801 using a 60 mm macro lens. Thierry Moreau's main research interests focus on the structure-function relationship of serine protease inhibitors.
