Points of View by Benedict Rubbra. Oil on canvas, 140 x 120 cm. The painting is an interpretation of the work of the scientist Frances Ashcroft on insulin secretion. Frances Ashcroft is the Royal Societys GlaxoSmithKline Research Professor and works at the University Laboratory of Physiology, Oxford UK. Her laboratory studies the role of the ATP-sensitive potassium channel in insulin secretion from pancreatic beta-cells. Benedict Rubbras sojourn in her laboratory resulted in a collaborative exhibition, Points of View, about the differences and similarities in the way artist and scientist view the world. The exhibition was shown in Oxford, Cambridge and London. For further information about the artist's work please contact him at benrubbra@aol.com
