Cover. An array of twenty-four water-filled test tubes was illuminated with a LASER diode emitting red light and a blue LED flashlight. Reflections were created by placing the set-up on aluminium foil. Images were captured with a Canon Digital Ixus II at 3.2 megapixel resolution. Thorsten Adams, Stefan Becker and Hans-Ulrich Schmoldt are Ph.D. students at the Institute for Microbiology and Genetics, University of Göttingen at the laboratory of Harald Kolmar. The main interest of this laboratory is to employ bacterial surface display of combinatorial libraries in order to isolate novel therapeutics and enzymes.
