Cover. 'Eyes still-life' by Veit Goder. An assembly of snapshots taken from a video by Veit Goder that was originally prepared and shown at the 30th anniversary of the Biozentrum in Basel, Switzerland, in autumn 2001. It shows the eyes of all the 'inhabitants' of the Biozentrum at the time, not only scientists but also members of the administration and the various internal services and craftsmen. This was to qualify the Biozentrum as a lively house which needs the input of all its inhabitants for best function. Dr Goder is a Post-Doc in the group of Martin Spiess at the Biozentrum in Basel, currently investigating protein topogenesis in mammalian cells. See Goder and Spiess, pp. 3645--3653.
