Cover. A fanciful depiction of Archaeoglobus fulgidus reverse gyrase molecules floating around a DNA double helix. Reverse gyrase is unique to hyperthermophiles, where its positive supercoiling activity is believed to protect DNA from heat denaturation. Archaeoglobus fulgidus, like many other hyperthermophiles, typically lives in deep sea vents at temperatures above 70°C. The image was created using MolScript and POV-Ray. For further details see Rodríguez and Stock, pages 418--426.
