Cover. Competition. In a tropical rain forest each photon that penetrates the dense canopy is captured by one plant or another. The leaf on the cover was photographed in the fog forest of Ecuador's Pacific coast by Freddy Frischknecht who researches the motility of plasmodium sporozoites at the Pasteur Institute in Paris. The cover is dedicated to Tiger.
