E.coli that express the ffh G257A allele are inviable. WAM121 (PBAD-ffh ffh::kan) transformed with pHDB6 or pHDB6 (G257A) was streaked on LB agar containing 0.2% arabinose or 200 muM IPTG and incubated at 37°C for 18 h.
