Cluster analysis of ESTs significantly regulated in Nona shoots after salt treatment. The log-2 ratio values of 486 ESTs significantly regulated by salt stress were used for hierarchical cluster analysis with the GeneMaths software package. The red represents up-regulated genes; the green represents down-regulated genes; the black represents un-regulated genes; and the blanks represent missing data. Five distinct groups were distinguished: the early transient response genes (Group I), the intermediate up-regulated genes (Group II), the long term up-regulated genes (Group III), the intermediate down-regulated genes (Group IV) and the long term down-regulated genes (Group V). The details of the gene annotation shown on the right are provided in Suppl. 1.
