There are thousands of species of bee, and their relative behaviours are as diverse as their habitats. While there’s plenty we’re still learning about these insects, which have been around since the late Cretaceous period, it’s abundantly clear that they play an extremely important role in pollination. For this reason, research into bee behaviour and evolution, along with the impact of humans and our agricultural practices, is vital to understanding not only bees, but the wider ecosystem.
