EDITORIAL POLICIES
CPT is the leading journal of the discipline and practice of clinical pharmacology and therapeutics. CPT is owned by the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (ASCPT) and serves the society as a vehicle by which to advance the science of clinical pharmacology as the discipline at the forefront of the continuum of discovery, development, regulation, and use (DDRU) of safe and effective medicines.
Accordingly, ASCPT believes that the Editor of CPT must:
Maintain editorial independence and academic freedom in order to advance effectively the discipline of clinical pharmacology and therapeutics
Embrace the philosophy that ASCPT and CPT strive toward the common goal of advancing the discipline and practice of clinical pharmacology, where CPT is a principle vehicle for the society to advance the discipline
Work collaboratively with the journal's Editorial Board, the society's Editorial Committee and professional staff to ensure consideration of work along the full continuum of clinical pharmacology, and promote publication of the best science available, thereby enhancing the value of CPT and broadening its readership
Recognize that the interests of the society, the discipline, and CPT are inherently co-dependent. In the context of this integration, the Editor must have the vision to serve as a leader in advancing the science and practice of clinical pharmacology as defined by the DDRU continuum
