- Published research articles are freely available online 12 months after publication (selected BJP content is freely available online from the date of publication).
- Authors of research articles can also opt to pay a fee of £1,250 (+ VAT for UK residents) for their accepted articles to be made freely available online immediately on publication. Please see the BJPOpen press release and BJPOpen FAQs for further details.
- Authors are encouraged to submit the author's version of the accepted paper (the unedited manuscript) to their funding body's archive, for public release six months after publication. In addition, authors are encouraged to archive this version of the manuscript in their institution's repositories and on their personal websites, also six months after the original publication.
- In this regard, we are fully compliant with the requirements of the major funding bodies worldwide with respect to open access publishing.
BJP Themed Issues

Following on from recent issues on High-throughput screening and Cannabinoid pharmacology, BJP will be publishing an issue on Safety Pharmacology in August 2008. Author Guidance, Instructions to Authors and Nomenclature Guidelines
Authors are recommended to read BJP's new Instructions to Authors (Br.J.Pharmacol. 2007, 151, v-xi) and Nomenclature Guidelines (Br.J.Pharmacol. 2007, 152) before submitting a manuscript for publication in the journal. For further assistance on writing an article for BJP, please download our Advice for non-English-speaking authors. Authors of review articles are advised to read BJP's Reviews Guidelines before submitting their manuscripts.
All authors must complete and sign a Licence to Publish form upon acceptance of their manuscript and return it to the editorial office. If your paper contains colour artwork, you must also complete a Colour Authorization Form.
