Senior House Officer in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
From 6th August 2008 we will have a position vacant for a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The successful applicant will gain experience in managing major head and neck surgical cases, significant exposure to cutaneous malignancy and reconstruction plus salivary gland surgery, sialoendoscopy, orthognathic and implant surgery. Minor oral surgery is carried out by junior doctors under supervision. Orthodontic training for interested trainees can be arranged.The SHO will be based at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust for on call with clinical duties in Mexborough Montague Hospitaland Rotherham General Hospital. There is middle grade support for the Junior Doctor‘s and a strong commitment to teaching from senior staff. The SHO‘s currently work a 1:8 full shift rota.The Senior House Officer posts are recognised by the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons and have the required educational and Postgraduate Dean’s approval. All Junior Doctors are encouraged to attend the MFDS Programme at Sheffield Dental Hospital, the in-house educational programme, monthly audit, and pathology meetings. Rotherham has an excellent clinical skills department and runs a regional OSCE courses for trainees. Modern on-site accommodation may be available if required.
