Most prosthetics start with an impression – all future stages of the treatment workflow are dependent upon it, so it must be accurate. Any imprecisions in the impression, such as voids, tears or inadequate capture of the subgingival margins, will be transferred to the lab and into the models, and may not be noticed until the final prosthesis is fitted. The challenge in conventional impression-taking, therefore, is to select materials that have all the properties necessary for a detailed, accurate and stable impression.

VOCO's impression system, V-Posil, is enabling clinicians to meet that challenge. This A-silicone-based, VPS material delivers precision, toughness and dimensional stability with a comfortable working time and a fast intraoral setting time. Available in four different viscosities, including a new Mono Fast monophase material, it is a flexible, versatile system, suitable for all impression techniques and clinical situations.

Optimal working and short intraoral setting times

An effective impression material needs to give the clinician adequate time to work it into the impression area. V-Posil has an optimal working time of up to two minutes but can be inserted into the mouth to trigger the setting process as soon as it's ready. V-Posil's setting time is fast to minimise patient discomfort and reduce the time spent in the critical zone where there is risk of movement and distortion. This fast setting time is achieved thanks to a rapid viscosity increase after the impression tray is inserted into the patient's mouth, which is fast enough to minimise the risk of inaccuracies but remains workable for up to one minute to give it time to flow into all areas of the dentition.

Ideal hydrophilicity

V-Posil's wetting capacity has been optimised with a high level of hydrophilicity, which allows for the presence of moisture in the intraoral structures, thus ensuring a reliable flow and good coverage over all areas, including the sulcus. Good hydrophilicity after setting enables smooth pouring and full coverage of the restoration into the impression in the next stage of the restoration process. For instance, V-Posil Heavy Soft Fast and V-Posil Mono Fast have a set contact angle of <6°.

Outstanding stability and resistance

Areas of fine details in the correction material are put under particular strain when removing the impression from the mouth. It is therefore crucial that once it is set, the material has excellent tear strength and elastic recovery to ensure that the dimensional accuracy is maintained on removal. V-Posil X-Light Fast, for example, can stretch by 2.6 times the original length of a standard material, which is a prerequisite for safe removal of a precision impression. V-Posil's excellent elastic recovery from deformation (99.6%) guarantees a dimensionally accurate reproduction of the oral situation.

Versatile viscosities

V-Posil comes in a range of viscosities covering the full range of possible applications. The V-Posil family is available in the following formulations:

  • V-Posil Putty Fast

  • V-Posil Heavy Soft Fast

  • V-Posil Mono Fast

  • V-Posil Light Fast

  • V-Posil X-Light Fast

  • V-Posil Adhesive.

V-Posil caters to a wide range of impression techniques, such as one-step and two-step putty-wash, monophase, functional and syringe impressions. Additionally, the new monophase material V-Posil Mono Fast is ideal for taking impressions over fixed/removable restorations and implants.

The range is available in the following standard mixing systems for use in standard automatic dispensing and mixing devices, such as the VOCO dynamic dispenser system, Sympress I/II:

  • 450 ml putty jars, 1:1 for manual kneading

  • 50 ml automix cartridges, 1:1

  • 380 ml cartridges, 5:1.

A versatile, all-encompassing range means every indication is covered streamlining surgery space and the treatment workflow.

Finding a solution for quick and precise impression-taking

The science behind conventional impression materials continues to advance apace and the range constantly expands to meet the needs of this vital procedure. V-Posil effectively combines high hydrophilicity for optimal wetting and high precision, whilst its exceptional toughness and elastic recovery ensures high-dimensional accuracy and safe, precise removal of the tray.

Effectively combining optimal working time with short intraoral setting times, clinicians can expect to maximise efficiency, reduce inaccuracy and increase patient comfort in as little as four minutes – with the impressively precise V-Posil range.
