Introduction: The lupus Anticoagulant (LAC) is very important for its possible involvement in the thrombotic pathology in the individuals(patients) concerned. We are reporting 8 patients investigated during childhood at our hospital in the last 2 years.

Aim: Clinical and laboratory examination of children showing Lupus Anticoagulant for evaluation of possible concomitant pathologies.

Methods: LAC was diagnosed in children aged 7 months to 8 years; all showed lengthening of uncorrected PTT with mixture 1:1; positive KCT, STACLOT and DRVV TEST, correction with PNP, while all patients were ACA or APA negative.

Results: all our children had shown pathology in the upper respiratory tract in the weeks before the diagnosis and were treated with antibiotics (6/8); 8/8 showed normalisation of the tests within 6 months.

Conclusions: the presence of LAC is not infrequent during childhood; we did not examine thrombotic pathology. The event is usually transitory but possible laboratory diagnostic diffeculty must be considered.
