Abstract
We report ionic conductivities and mobilities of the liquid polymer electrolytes formed by dissolving the lithium salts in poly(ethylene oxide) and poly(propylene oxide). A high resolution NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) relaxation technique was used to study the dynamics of the ions in polymer electrolytes. The 7Li NMR results revealed the coexistence of two separate lineshape components with substantially different spin-spin relaxation times (T2). From the resolution of the two components, we could estimate the spin-spin relaxation time of the mobile free lithium ion and also the fraction of free lithium ions contributing to the ionic conductivity in polymer electrolyte.
