Solar Neutrino Problem : No Low Energy 3He + 3He Resonance

Abstract

From a study of the 6Li(3He,t)6Be reaction, experimental evidence is presented against the existence of the 3He+3He resonance corresponding to a level at 11.5 MeV in 6Be which has been suggested as an ad hoc solution to the solar neutrino problem. The 6Li(3He,t)-6Be data establish a limit on the spectroscopic factor S(6Be*→3He+3He) of less than 6×10−3 for any state in this region of 6Be.
