Abstract
THE primary reactions of photosynthesis in higher plants occur as a result of at least two pigment systems initiating certain photoreactions. The reaction centre of photosystem I (PSI) has maximum absorbance at about 700 nm and is denoted P 700. Photosystem II (PSII) which initiates H2O photolysis and O2 evolution has maximum absorbance at about 650 nm.
