(a) Liquid structure factor along the freezing line37 showing results from T=0.7ɛ/kB, which is close to the triple point, to T=3.4ɛ/kB. The hard-sphere model predicts that the height of the first peak is invariant along the freezing line as indicated by the blue dashed line in the inset. Small, but systematic deviations are observed. (b) Liquid structure factor along the isomorph crossing the freezing line at temperature T0=2.0ɛ/kB (henceforth used as the liquid reference isomorph), demonstrating structural invariance to a much higher degree. This is the basis for the theory proposed in the present paper.
