Solidification and recharge of SiO2-rich plutonic magma chambers

Abstract

There exists substantial variation in initial strontium isotopic composition in rocks from three otherwise homogeneous tonalite plutons. We interpret disrupted dykes as conduits through which heterogeneous liquids were added periodically to the inflating magma chambers. Recharge buffered the physicochemical but not the strontium isotope properties of the crystallizing liquids.
