Formation of stable preinitiation complexes between eukaryotic class B transcription factors and promoter sequences

Abstract

At least one of the HeLa cell factors necessary for correct in vitro transcription from conalbumin or adenovirus late promoters binds to the region of the template that contains the ‘TATA’ box. This binding, which occurs in the absence of RNA polymerase B, results in the formation of stable preinitiation complexes.
