X-ray and [Fe XIV] 5,303 Å emission from Puppis A supernova remnant

Abstract

Recently, Lucke et al.1 found [Fe XIV] 5,303 Å emission from Puppis A to be much less intense than that expected from the X-ray data given by Zarnecki et al.2. We propose here that this discrepancy can be removed by taking into account the nonequilibrium state of ionisation within the X-ray source.
