Evidence of a disrupted pulsar binary system

Abstract

THIS letter demonstrates that the pulsars PSR1952 + 29 and PSR1929 + 10 may have originated in a binary system which was disrupted by a supernova explosion less than a million years ago. If further confirmed by improved observations, this result provides an evolutionary link between the separate phenomena of X-ray binary systems and radio pulsars.
