Radiocarbon dates and deglaciation of Rannoch Moor, Scotland

Abstract

THE Loch Lomond Readvance affected large areas of the Scottish Highlands, and while the maximal extent of the readvance glaciers is now fairly well established1,2, it is not yet known how long they took to decay3. Three radiocarbon dates have been obtained from a site on Rannoch Moor in the heart of the south-west Grampian Highlands that provide significant new information on the deglacial chronology of Scotland.
