Abstract
IN this paper we present new measurements on the diffuse component of cosmic soft gamma rays in the energy range 0.1–4 MeV obtained with a balloon-borne telescope. These measurements show that the energy spectrum gradually steepens from E−2.3 to E−2.8 as the energy increases from 100 to 500 keV and becomes less steep thereafter, consistent with the presence of a hump in the MeV region.
