Abstract

THE ability of prostaglandins to affect platelet function has been described in many laboratories1,2. The most potent of these, prostaglandin E1 (PGE1), has been found to inhibit platelet aggregation and stimulate platelet adenyl cyclase. The effect of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), however, has been either inhibitory or stimulatory, depending both upon the species of animal examined3 and the concentration of prostaglandin used4.
