Activation of a C-type virus from the human carcinoma cell line HBT-3 by iododeoxyuridine and testosterone

Abstract

WE report the activation of a C-type virus from the human carcinoma cell line, HBT-3, with iododeoxyuridine following a testosterone-induced cellular morphology change. We feel that this method will prove useful in activating endogenous C-type virus. Studies are in progress to further characterise the virus and determine the species of origin.
