Abstract
A CELL-ASSOCIATED herpesvirus has been shown to induce Marek's disease (MD), a naturally occurring malignant neoplasm of chickens. The mechanism of tumorigenesis or the factors that mediate natural or acquired resistance to MD are not well understood. Information on these aspects is needed for a better understanding of the basic mechanisms of this and possibly other herpesvirus-induced neoplasms.
