Concerns about the safety of rituximab in the setting of lymphoproliferative disorders have risen at the light of reported cases of hepatitis B virus (HBV) reactivation,1, 2, 3 as we recently observed in a B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (B-CLL) patient who developed this complication without any serological evidence of surface antigen (HBsAg) expression.
