Methadone Induced Mortality as a Function of the Circadian Cycle

An Erratum to this article was published on 22 December 1972

Abstract

METHADONE maintenance is an increasingly used approach in heroin addiction1,2. Because addicts are often provided with a number of days' supply of methadone for unsupervised use, problems of overdosage are becoming prevalent3–5. The effectiveness of many drugs is closely related to the circadian rhythm6–8, and it is important to evaluate methadone overdosage as a function of the circadian cycle.
