Effects of Cyclophosphamide on Serum Immunoglobulin Levels in SJL/J Mice

Abstract

HYPERGAMMAGLOBULINAEMIA is common in SJL/J mice1,2, an inbred strain which develops spontaneously a high incidence of lymphoma3 and amyloidosis4. A number of the immunoglobulin elevations are electrophoretically indistinguishable from the “M” proteins seen in multiple myeloma1, but most are broadly dispersed electrophoretically and involve a single immunoglobulin fraction with elevations occurring as early as 6 weeks of age4. Less frequently, two and occasionally three or more fractions are increased5,6.
