Proposed Reaction Mechanism for the (Na+ + K+)-Dependent Adenosine Triphosphatase

Abstract

ALTHOUGH a definitive description of the reaction mechanism of the (Na+ + K+)-dependent ATPase1,2 must await deter-mination of the three dimensional structure of the enzyme, some clues can be gained from studies of the amino-acids that seem to participate in the active site.
