Abstract

FELINE sarcoma virus (FSV) induces malignant tumours in cats1–4, dogs1,2,4, rabbits1,4 and monkeys4,5, and transforms cultured cells from several species including man6,7. Spontaneous regression of tumours induced by FSV has been reported3. We describe here a correlation between the presence of humoral antibodies to virus-associated cell membrane antigens and the failure of cats injected with FSV to develop progressive malignant tumours.
