Ontogenesis of Two Components of Human Complement: βIE and βIC–IA Globulins

Abstract

THE introduction of techniques for separating serum proteins has made it possible to isolate and identify several components of human complement (C′) (ref. 1). The fourth component of complement (C′4) has been identified as β1E globulin2; the classical third component of complement (C′3) has been shown to consist of six factors1; the component which reacts with red cell antibody complex (EA) in the state EAC′1,4,2a has been termed β10–β1A globulin3.
