Transacylation of Acetyluramil or Acetylthiouramil; formation of Oxazolo(5,4-d)pyrimidines

Abstract

CONDENSED pyrimidine ring compounds have been widely investigated, but relatively little is known of oxazolo-(5,4-d)pyrimidines, which have so far been prepared by the cyclization of uramil with acetic anhydride or benzoyl chloride1,2, of 5-acyl- or 5-aroyl-amino-4-hydroxypyrimidines with phosphorus oxychloride3–5, or by the Curtius reaction of 4-aminopyrimidine-5-carbohydrazides6.
