Effects of Temperature on Photo-sensitivity of Spermatozoa

Abstract

ADVERSE effects of light on the movement and life-span of spermatozoa have repeatedly been demonstrated1–7. Norman, Goldberg and Porterfield7 were unable to detect any relationship between light effects and temperature in a few experiments by means of simple visual observational methods. A definite dependence of photo-sensitivity on temperature has now been demonstrated in specific investigations using Rikmenspoel's photo-electric method3–6,8–11.
