Abstract
PREVIOUSLY I have described1 changes in the morphology and physiology of the cells of Candida albicans during early stages of growth. These changes are in part associated with the cell wall in that the cells are flocculant during the lag phase of growth. An analysis of the basic constituents in the cell wall and the variations in the constituents during growth have also been reported2, and they indicate that the ability of the cells to flocculate might be due to a weakened cell wall during this stage.
