Abstract
A PROMINENT feature of synaptic transmission through the lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN) in the cat1–3 and in the rat4 is the large and prolonged depression of transmission which occurs following a single shock to the optic nerve. In the work reported here an attempt was made to discover the cause of this depression.
