Abstract
CONSIDERABLE efforts have been made, so far, to investigate the physico-chemical as well as the biochemical nature of soft tissue collagen such as skin and tendon, especially. In refs. 1–3 it is suggested that the soluble collagen is the precursor of collagen. However, only scanty information has been provided in regard to the important role of bone collagen in the formation of bone4. Trials in refs. 5 and 6 have not been successful in proving the existence of soluble collagen.
