Utilization of the Stereoisomers of Isoleucine by Lactobacillus arabinosus 17–5

Abstract

IT has been reported by several authors1–3 that Lactobacillus arabinosus is capable of utilizing L-alloisoleucine as well as L-isoleucine in the presence of vitamin B6 but unable to utilize D-alloisoleucine ; there has been only one report4 that D-isoleucine was partially utilizable.
