Oxygen Equilibrium of Hæmoglobin from Thunnus thynnus

Abstract

FEW data can be found in the literature dealing with the functional properties of hæmoglobin of lower vertebrates1–3. Moreover, these investigations were carried out using whole blood or unpurified hæmolysate as working material, particularly in the case of fishes; this procedure may make the interpretation of the results misleading since the blood of these animals rapidly deteriorates after collection3.
