Abstract
DURING the past two years there have been several reports of the complex nature of the third component of complement (C′3) based on its lysis of sensitized erythrocytes in the presence of the other components of complement1–3, and Rapp et al. 4 have separated two factors from guinea pig serum which are both needed for the action that was previously associated with C′3. The existence of two such factors has also been suggested by the experiments described here.
